Direct Route

Practitioners submit an application, official transcripts, and a comprehensive portfolio to the Gateways to Opportunity office. Education and Training, Work and Practical Experience, and Professional Contributions are represented through the completion of this portfolio validating competencies and experience in early care and education, school-age care, and/or administration.

Portfolio Submission Dates

Portfolios must be submitted to Gateways to Opportunity by the last Friday of every month. Any applications received after the cut-off date will be processed the following month.

Fees

Fees may be paid by credit card or check (payable to INCCRRA—Illinois Network of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies). All Fees are non-refundable.

Application Fee—$30.00
Evaluation Fee—$170.00*
Assessment Fee—$100.00 (per credential)

*Please contact us to inquire about reduced fees for practitioners with specific degrees and/or statewide certifications.

The following fees apply only to those who have already been awarded a credential:

Add-on Credential Fee—$100.00 (per credential)
Level Advancement Fee—$75.00 (per credential)
Renewal Fee—$75.00 (only applies to currently credentialed recipients) 

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance for credential fees may be available through Professional Development Funds at local Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) Agencies. Financial assistance for coursework may be available through the Gateways to Opportunity Scholarship Program and through the financial aid office of the college or university attended.
