Gateways Credential Information for Institutions

Each Gateways credential has specific component requirements. To become an entitled institution, all credential components must be met through an institution's coursework. To see specific component requirements for each credential click on the framework below:

 

General Education

Depending on credential level, general education requirements will vary, ranging from a high school diploma/GED to a graduate degree.

Content Specific Education and Training

Education and training will meet specific requirements for each credential (e.g., early childhood education, child development, business administration, school-age, etc.). The amount of coursework and/or training increases with advanced levels of each credential.

Work and Practical Experience

Work and practical experience will meet specific requirements as defined by each credential (e.g., infant/toddler, early childhood, school-age, administration, etc.).

Professional Contributions

As an entitled institution, the opportunity for completing Professional Contributions may be included as part of coursework or degree requirements. A Professional Contribution is an activity that contributes to the field of early care and education. The Professional Contribution Areas are:

  • Program Improvement
  • Service in a Professional Organization
  • Presentations/Training
  • Advocacy
  • Writing and Publication
  • Research/Grants Writing
